California Waterscapes
Timothy Mulligan
September 3rd – 30th, 2019
Artist Reception: Friday, September 6th, 6-8 PM
Bryant Street Gallery is proud to present California Waterscapes, a new exhibition featuring local artist, Timothy Mulligan. Inspired by 19th century French Impressionists and the Bay Area Figurative Movement of the 1960s, Mulligan uses bold planes and heightened colors to paint real-life subjects and locations, reimagined. Join us in viewing this exhibition September 3rd – 30th with opening reception Friday, September 6th from 6-8 pm.
Timothy Mulligan worked as a printmaker and artist, exhibiting at local galleries after graduating with a BFA from CSU Sacramento. In 2011, after taking a long break to teach his two children at home, grades K-12, Mulligan returned to art to pursue his passion to paint on canvas. Mulligan has searched Northern California looking for tranquil, aquatic scenes. In this series you might recognize a bridge once traveled over, a boat once rocked, or an embarcadero once ambled down. Mulligan’s expressionistic style incorporates swatches of vibrant hues, streamlining his muse to its most vital elements.
