Lin Fischer
April 1st – April 30th, 2018
Artist Reception: Friday, April 6th, 6-8 PM

Bryant Street Gallery is pleased to present Recent Paintings by Lin Fischer, a California based artist nurtured and inspired by the Bay Area Figurative Movement. She lets her paint do the work in creating classic, yet fresh impasto scenes. Her paintings offer a brief glimpse of the human existence within a natural setting, as well as textured environments rich in flora. The exhibition opens April 1st with the artist’s reception on April 6th from 6-8 pm.

Growing up in Sacramento, Fischer fell in love with the region and the artists it produced. She learned her trade under Bay Area greats like Wayne Thiebaud and Roland Petersen. Her generous use of paint and bold hues are echoes of both mentors that can be seen in the work throughout her career.

Fischer guides and manipulates paint directly on the canvas to discover what colors can be formed and what patterns can be defined. Through this process Fischer produces vulnerable figures and landscapes full of wonder. In both intimate interiors and expressive exteriors, Fischer paints a story around her predominantly female characters. Her terrain-focused pieces exude emotion and fluidity defined by swirling eddies of texture and color. The narrative she creates is that of an everyday beauty, captured through paint.

Recent Paintings will be on exhibit from April 1st – 30th, 2018 at Bryant Street Gallery, 532 Bryant St, Palo Alto, CA. The artist will be in attendance of the opening reception, Friday April 6th from 6-8 pm.
