Artist Statement

I am always in search of the ambiguous figure of movement. I wish to capture something in its own process of evolution, the mood expressed through means of gesture. I love freedom of expression. It demands vigorous honesty. Contrived marks are thrown into the muck. I am inspired by the soul of the music, the beauty of something that can be simple, yet complex at the same time.

 

Biography

Michel Buscemi was born in upstate New York. As a young child Michael traveled all around the country with his family. In 1986 they made their home in San Francisco bay area. For the past 12 years Michael has been living and working in the studio environment creating and developing a body of work as well as the distinguished style.
Independent film maker Peter Miller, made a documentary about Michael’s studio and his work in progress. Film documented the creation of an amazing large scale oil painting titled “The Sun & The Moon”.

Buscemi has been helping bay area artists unite by curating several art shows. Artist believes that the strength is in unity.

Michael’s work has become part of collections throughout the Bay Area, New York and Europe. He has also done several monumental size commissioned murals in USA and Europe.
