Biodiversity Series 2014
The prominent biologist Edward O. Wilson wrote, “Where there is liquid water, organic molecules, and an energy source, there is life.” Millions of species that have been born and evolved over the life of Earth to date have been lost or are in danger of
extinction. As many as half of the species of plants and animals may disappear by the end of this century due in large part to
human causes. Without this diversity of species, the future of life on Earth as we know it will be imperiled. The race is on for us to stop this destruction.
The fragile beauty of the infinite variety of life forms that exists even in a drop of pond water is the image in my mind. My wonderment at this diversity compels me to search for unique colors and shapes to bring to the canvas.
